Northwestern Roberta Buffett Institute for Global Affairs

Buffett Immersion Fellowship Program

This fellowship supports full-time Northwestern faculty on continuing appointments who aim to spend one or more leave quarters embedded with an international or internationally oriented entity, e.g., government, nonprofit, cultural institution, or industry.

This in-person residency or partnership is meant to provide fellows with an opportunity to exchange ideas and make an impact with institutions relevant to their research agendas. Higher education institutions and research centers are not eligible partners for this fellowship.

Faculty will join a wider Buffett community and will be encouraged to take part in the Institute’s activities when possible.

While fellows will manage the logistics of any partnership, prospective applicants who are interested in finding international partners can seek our assistance. Please contact the Roberta Buffett Institute’s Research Director Harrington Weihl with any questions.

Application deadline: January 11, 2027
