Engineering Without Borders
The mission of the Northwestern chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB-NU) is to design and implement projects that empower communities and help them meet basic human needs. Each year, EWB-NU’s goal is to complete two educational and collaborative projects, one enriching the local community at Northwestern, and the other addressing an infrastructural problem in the world.
Ethiopian and Eritrean Student Association
The Ethiopian and Eritrean Student Association (EESA) is a community organization and affinity space for Ethiopian and Eritrean students on campus, as well as anyone else who is interested in engaging with the culture. The goal of EESA is to provide a space where Ethiopian and Eritrean students at Northwestern can engage with one another and form connections through shared cultures and backgrounds.
Friends of MSF (Doctors Without Borders)
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an independent international NGO that brings medical care to people affected by conflict, disasters, epidemics, and social exclusion. The Friends of MSF Northwestern chapter is dedicated to engaging the Northwestern community with MSF’s work, amplifying their communications, advocating for global health issues, and supporting fundraising events.
Global Engagement Summit
The Global Engagement Summit is committed to providing a collaborative space for young changemakers and fostering global connections for Northwestern students to ensure that our generation is well-equipped to create effective and lasting solutions to the world’s most pressing issues.
GlobeMed
GlobeMed at Northwestern University empowers students to advance global health equity through sustainable, community-driven partnerships and education. The Northwestern chapter partners with the Adonai Child Development Centre in Namugoga, Uganda and supports projects that expand access to clean water, education, and healthcare for orphaned and vulnerable children.
International Studies Society
The International Studies Society (ISS) seeks to serve Northwestern undergraduates by providing students with opportunities to learn about, explore, and engage in the field of international studies. ISS works to spark and develop student interest in fields like diplomacy, international development, and nonprofits with international focuses, via social, networking, informational events, and mentorship programming to prepare students for graduate school, job placement following graduation, and provide community.
Northwestern University Community for Human Rights
Northwestern University Community for Human Rights (NUCHR) is a group of advocates for global human rights on Northwestern University’s campus. Through informed dialogue, weekly meetings, educational excursions, social events, and year-round programming, it bridges connections between undergraduates and international discussions on current human rights issues. The group is oriented to assist students in grappling with complex histories and inequities in order to develop deep critical thinking abilities and to mobilize inspired action.
Northwestern Ukrainian Club
Northwestern's Ukrainian Club provides an inclusive environment where students can explore Ukrainian identity and culture through educational and social events. The club aims to collaborate with scholars and student groups engaged in global studies, organize interdisciplinary events that highlight Ukraine’s role in contemporary world affairs, and create educational programs that promote cross-cultural understanding on campus.
Undergraduate International Student Advancement Council
The Undergraduate International Student Advancement Council (UISAC) aims to empower international students at Northwestern University by providing clear, accessible resources, fostering cultural integration, and addressing unique academic and administrative challenges. UISAC is committed to building a supportive and inclusive community that celebrates diversity, advocates for equitable policies, and enhances the overall experience of international students on our campus.
World Affairs Group
The World Affairs Group serves as a consistent space outside of the classroom where Northwestern students can engage seriously with global affairs. Founded in 2024, the group created a platform that enables undergraduates to write research-based articles and produce podcast episodes on topics of interest to them.
