James Griffiths is a journalist and author of the critically acclaimed books The Great Firewall: How to Build & Control an Alternative Version of the Internet and Speak Not: Empire, Identity, & the Politics of Language. Griffiths is Asia correspondent for Canada’s national newspaper The Globe and Mail and has served as senior producer at CNN International. Yingdan Lu is an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at Northwestern University’s School of Communication and studies how authoritarian governments use digital media and artificial intelligence to maintain their rule.
