Northwestern Buffett has four key governing bodies, designed to serve as strategic thought partners in Northwestern’s global efforts.
Northwestern Buffett Board of Advisors
The Northwestern Buffett Board of Advisers is a dynamic, creative group of thought leaders committed to the idea that universities can significantly impact the most complex global challenges—peace and security, sustainable development, inequality, and the impact and opportunities surrounding technological change—by bringing the greatest thinkers together across institutional, national, and disciplinary boundaries, and by preparing the next generation of global leaders. The board’s mission is to advance these significant goals through advocacy, philanthropy, and advice to the executive director.
Northwestern Buffett Faculty Advisory Council
The Faculty Advisory Council will serve as the key mechanism for representing faculty in Buffett decisions and activities. Members will serve as strategic thought partners for Buffett leadership and ambassadors for Buffett's strategic goals.
Northwestern Global Council
This group of senior leaders from each of Northwestern’s schools best positioned to represent on global programming and curricula is charged with defining key priorities for the globalization of the university, developing and implementing policies relating to internationalization, and with sharing information and coordinating initiatives among the schools.
University Study Abroad Committee (USAC)
The University Study Abroad Committee (USAC) is charged by the Provost with responsibility for reviewing and approving proposals for new undergraduate study abroad programs. In coordination with the Northwestern Global Council, USAC ensures that all approved undergraduate study programs are consistent with Northwestern's educational goals, values, and academic standards, and that all programs have been reviewed and approved by the relevant academic and administrative units of the University.
