Call for Northwestern University faculty to join international working groups through the U7+ Alliance of World Universities
Topics include environmental sustainability, equity and inclusion, artificial intelligence, and more.
The Northwestern Roberta Buffett Institute for Global Affairs and Office of International Relations invite Northwestern University faculty to express their interest in representing Northwestern University within the U7+ Alliance of World Universities working groups during the 2020-21 academic year.
The U7+ Alliance of World Universities is the first coalition of university presidents aimed at defining concrete actions universities can take to collectively address global challenges in coordination with government leaders in G7 countries and beyond. Northwestern University joined in 2020, and will be hosting the 2nd Annual U7+ Presidential Summit in November, along with three U.S. co-sponsoring institutions: Columbia University, Georgetown University and the University of California, Berkeley. The inaugural U7+ summit, held last year in France, included 47 universities representing 20 countries and more than 2 million students.
The U7+ Working Groups were formed at the inaugural U7+ summit in 2019. Since that time, groups have been working collaboratively to define and enact concrete actions universities can take to collectively address global challenges.
A full listing of U7+ Working Groups is available here, as defined by the U7+ Actions (one working group is tied to each action).
If you are interested in joining one of the working groups, please complete this brief form by Wednesday, August 19th. Northwestern faculty will be notified if they have been selected for the group by August 25th.
