May 22, 2023
The Northwestern Roberta Buffett Institute for Global Affairs hosted a fireside chat on May 22, 2023, with Beatrice Fihn, the former executive director of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize-winning campaign coalition that works to prohibit and eliminate nuclear weapons. She led the campaign for nearly a decade and has worked to mobilize civil society throughout the development of the United Nations Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, the first legally binding international agreement to comprehensively prohibit nuclear weapons with the ultimate goal being their total elimination.
