Northwestern Buffett Institute for Global Affairs

Photo & Video Submission Contest for Undergraduates

The Buffett Institute invites all undergraduate student grant recipients, program participants, and fellows to submit to the Institute's annual photo and video contest. Start brainstorming how to creatively document your experience, and get ready to submit your best shots!

Submit

Annual deadline: October 1

Contestants must submit at least five photos or videos, though the more, the better: don’t hesitate to submit as many as you would like.

Photos

  • You may submit in .HEIC, .JPG, or .PNG formats.
  • The majority should feature you in front of the camera. Examples are below.

Videos

  • You may submit in .MOV or .MP4 formats.
  • Videos may range greatly in length, from 5+ second clips capturing your work to minutes long videos of you talking to the camera and showing your research or work site and/or reflecting on your experiences. Topics for reflection could include:
    • What work are you doing, and why is it important?
    • Tell a memorable story from your work or travels.
    • How do you think this experience has impacted you personally, academically, and/or professionally?

Captions

  • The submission form will prompt you to provide captions for each photo or video, including the names of those pictured (if available) and the location it was taken.

Quotes

  • The submission form will prompt you to provide a quote reflecting on your experience.

For privacy reasons, please do not upload pictures of other people unless you have their permission. By submitting your photos, videos, and quotes, you give the Buffett Institute permission to share them on our website, social media, and other communications channels, so please do not share any that may compromise your research project’s data security and confidentiality.
