The Buffett Institute is located at 720 University Place, Evanston, IL. We often host events in the second-floor Buffett Reading Room, including a Buffett First Friday Lunch series. Please join us!

Study & Build Community

There are two spaces inside the Buffett Institute where undergraduates are welcome to study, read, and relax.

Atlas International Undergraduate Student Lounge

The lounge provides a home base for students in our Atlas Peer Mentorship Program but is a gathering place for all international undergraduate students. Students may use it as a study or social gathering space and are welcome to use the television (equipped with a Roku and streaming subscriptions) to host a movie or sports watch party.

Location: Ground Floor, 720 University Place
Hours: Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. when classes are in session

Buffett Reading Room

This cozy and collaborative space is open to all students who need a quiet place to write, study or recharge. It’s also a welcoming social hub where students can connect with their peers and share ideas in a low-pressure environment.

Location: Second Floor, 720 University Place
- Please note that 720 University Place is not an ADA-accessible space. Increasing physical access to buildings and facilities is a goal of the University, but not all buildings and venues have been updated.
Hours: Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  when classes are in session and events are not being held in the space

Grace Lewis

Grace is the program coordinator for Buffett's undergraduate programs team. She’s available to speak about all undergraduate programs but specifically leads the following programs: Buffett Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program, International Senior Thesis Research Grant, and Atlas Peer Mentorship Program.

Samantha Nissen

Samantha is the director for Buffett's undergraduate programs team. She’s available to speak about the following programs: Elliott Scholars Program, Climate Change Conference Research Seminar, Student Advocacy Seminar, and Buffett Post-Baccalaureate Fellowship Program.

Meet Our Student Leaders

Freddy Zhang

Freddy is a graduate student in Northwestern's Master of Science in Higher Education Administration and Policy program. He supports the Buffett Institute's student group affiliation initiative, student ambassador program, and Atlas Peer Mentorship Program.

Mira Henchi

Mira is an undergraduate student studying Anthropology and International Studies. She grew up in Oman, has lived in Ireland and Wales, and also calls Tunisia and the Netherlands home. She primarily leads the Atlas Peer Mentorship Program and supports community building within the program, specializing in communications and outreach, facilitation, and educational design.

Renato de Souza Elisanio

Renato is an undergraduate student double-majoring in Economics and International Studies. He grew up in Brazil. He primarily leads the Atlas Peer Mentorship Program and supports community building in the program, specializing in partnerships, educational design, and operations.

Student Ambassadors

Buffett Institute Student Ambassadors are volunteer undergraduate representatives who are open to sharing their experiences and offering insights about our programs. You can connect with them based on your program of interest.
