We rely on student assistants to carry out our research. Students may work with the Deportation Research Clinic as paid or unpaid research assistants, through the Chicago Field Studies intern program, or as Eva Jefferson Paterson Fellows. Most students work about five hours per week.

As exciting as our many ongoing projects are, we rely on very limited funding to carry them out. The sheer scope of our work and the time-consuming nature of legal research mean that we are constantly stretching our meager resources.

Any donation, large or small, will help sustain and expand our efforts to investigate, document, and publicize abusive and illegal deportation practices through groundbreaking scholarship.

Donations will be used to fund wages for student research assistants and research-related travel costs for students and faculty. In the event that we receive significant support from donors, donations may also be used to fund expanded operations, including hiring permanent staff.
