Community-Engaged Scholarship

Current Work

Through coalition building and cross-campus collaboration, one of the working group’s biggest achievements in 2017 was the articulation of a shared vision for community engaged scholarship at Northwestern and principles of ethical practice in our engaged learning, research and service programs. The principles were finalized in November 2017 and faculty, staff and community partners are eager to begin utilizing the principles in their programmatic, student-facing and course-based work. In 2018, the working group is focused on discussing and adopting strategies for making these principles actionable across the programs and centers already engaged in the working group.
