Event Support

The Buffett Institute supports events in a variety of ways:

  • Event co-sponsorship: Northwestern schools, departments, programs, centers, and student groups may apply for co-sponsorship funding for events on topics with clear implications for contemporary political, economic, and/or social issues.
  • Edited Volume Conference: This grant funds a faculty initiated and organized conference designed to produce significant publications on cutting edge, interdisciplinary research.
  • Graduate Student Organized Conference: This grant funds a graduate-student initiated and organized conference.
  • Graduate Student Conference Travel Award: This award funds Northwestern Ph.D. students working on international and comparative topics relevant to important contemporary political, economic and social issues to attend a professional conference in their field. The maximum award is $400.
  • Manuscript Revision Conference Award: This award funds a conference to give junior faculty the opportunity to receive pre-publication feedback from leading figures in their field.
