Northwestern Buffett supports graduate student research and professional growth. In order to nurture the next generation of interdisciplinary global scholars, we offer the following opportunities.

Global Impacts Graduate Fellowship Program

Northwestern Buffett’s new one-time Global Impacts Graduate Fellowship Program will provide financial and programmatic support to an interdisciplinary cohort of graduate students (in their 3rd through 7th years) for the 2020-2021 academic year. Learn more about the award and how to apply.

Graduate Fellowships and Assistantships

Northwestern Buffett partners with The Graduate School to offer enhanced stipend and tuition funding for PhD students who will support the work of Northwestern Buffett and Northwestern Buffett Working Groups. Learn more about Fellowships and Assistantships.

Graduate Student Dissertation Research Travel Award

These awards provide funding for fieldwork outside the United States for Northwestern doctoral candidates writing dissertations on comparative and international topics addressing one or more Sustainable Development Goals. Learn more about the award and how to apply.

Graduate Student Conference Travel Award

These grants fund Northwestern PhD students traveling to present their research on international and comparative topics addressing one or more Sustainable Development Goals at a professional conference in their field. Learn more about the award and how to apply.

Wilderness First Aid Training Grant

Sponsored by the Office of Global Safety and Security (OGSS), this grant enables graduate students to participate in wilderness first aid training. To qualify, a student’s travel must support academic goals that require remote or rural international travel. Visit the OGSS website to learn more about the grant.
