Northwestern Buffett Institute for Global Affairs

Our Offices

Northwestern Buffett is an integrated organization that supports Northwestern’s global agenda. Restructuring global activities at Northwestern enables us to facilitate new learning and research opportunities for students, and enhance services for our international students, scholars, and faculty. Put simply: We want to maximize our impact on our students, faculty, staff, and the world.

Global Learning Office

Undergraduate Learning Abroad (ULA) and the Global Engagement Studies Institute (GESI) program have integrated to form the Global Learning Office (GLO). This integration, a natural progression after the previous merge of International Program Development (IPD) and the Study Abroad Office, now combines all former study abroad offices into an integrated resource for Northwestern students seeking global learning experiences. “Global learning” best describes its current work while also allowing space for growth in new and exciting ways.

Office of Global Safety and Security

Established in October 2013, the Office of Global Safety and Security (OGSS) supports the health, safety, and security of Northwestern community members traveling abroad under University sponsorship.

Office of International Student and Scholar Services

The International Office (IO) has changed its name to the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (OISS). The office's new name more clearly defines its purpose on campus, as it continues to enrich the academic, research, cultural, and social experience of Northwestern's international students, visitors, employees, and families.
