Russian and Eastern European Studies

Mission & Vision

As recent international headlines show, the strategic importance of understanding Russia and Eastern Europe cannot be overstated. Founded in 2015, the Russian and Eastern European Studies Working Group provides a space for collaborative work between the social sciences and the arts/humanities on topics of interest related to the Russian and Eastern European geopolitical and cultural spheres.

Through graduate/faculty colloquia and invited lecturers, the Working Group encourages a new, 21st-century perspective on the field that is strongly interdisciplinary while acknowledging its roots in an active understanding of the past.
